How we can help:
BeCycling can help you to gain confidence and learn skills for urban riding. We can help you plan safe routes to work or for other journeys. We provide tailor made training courses for you to learn at your own pace.
By accompanying you on your first journeys we can make that first step seem not so daunting. If you have never cycled before or it's years since you were in the saddle, we can help you learn the skills needed for cycling today.
If you are inteested in family rides, or want help in making that commute to work, then we can provide the training to suit your needs.
An Adult Cycle Training session will give you confidence and improve your cycle skills. You can do it by yourself or as part of a group. Each session is individually tailored to your needs.
Absolute beginners can learn to balance on a bike, develop handling skills in a safe off-road environment and use bikes for everyday journeys.
You could learn how to position yourself in traffic, discover the best ways to get to work or to go on leisure rides. It's entirely up to you!
With the help of a qualified and experienced instructor, you can discover how easy it is to deal with and bypass traffic, learn new and easy shortcuts to work or home and get first hand tips for staying safe and the rules of the road.
Reasons to get on your bike:
It now costs 33p per mile, for 10,000 miles per annum in a small, new car. This includes the ‘fixed’ costs of almost £2000 per year, plus 13p per mile for other running costs. A bike costs approximately 5p per mile and is good for the environment.
"I have to be smart at work and can't stuff my workclothes into a pannier” - Don't cycle every day. Leave a week's worth of clothes at work at the beginning of the week and take the dirty stuff home each night.
"People will think I'm a bit of an oddball if I start turning up to their houses on a bike." Some might, but so what? Most people will probably admire you because you're doing something that's keeping you fit and healthy. And it's cheaper than driving and better for the environment. They might even start coming with you on leisure rides.
"It's not safe to ride in rush-hour traffic" You can usually get from your home to where you want to go on minor roads. We can help you to plan a safe route for you to travel on.
Cycling can help as part of weight management. A 15-minute bike ride to and from work five times a week burns off the equivalent of 11 pounds of fat in a year.6 That kind of cycling pattern also meets the Government's latest target on exercise.
